Sciencenter

Start your getaway at the Sciencenter and enjoy over 250 interactive science exhibits. At the Sciencenter, kids learn science, technology, engineering, and math through creative, hands-on experiences. You can also attend daily science activities and interact with live animals here!

Museum of the Earth

Journey through time and learn about Earth’s 4.5 billion-year history through natural history displays, interactive science features, and art exhibitions. The Museum of Earth features more than seven million specimens, including one of the most complete skeletons of a mastodon. 

Cayuga Nature Center

Learn about the natural history of the Cayuga Lake Basin at the Cayuga Nature Center. Stroll through the 100-acre nature center and discover woodlands, fields, treehouses overlooking the forest canopy, live animals, and a waterfall. Head inside the main lodge to learn more about our local ecology. 

Cornell University Stops Along the Discovery Trail

Cornell University offers three stops along the Ithaca Discovery Trail, all free of charge:

 

  • Cornell Johnson Museum of Art: Marvel at 40,000 works of art spanning six millennia of prints, drawings, photographs, contemporary paintings, and sculptures worldwide. 

  • Cornell Lab of Ornithology: Visit the 425-acre sanctuary for exceptional birdwatching and to learn about bird conservation and the Earth’s biodiversity.

  • Cornell Botanic Gardens: Stroll through 25 acres of beautiful botanical gardens and a 150-acre arboretum. Learn about native species and habitats during your exploration.

The History Center in Tompkins County

Visit the exhibit hall at The History Center in Tompkins County and learn about Finger Lakes history interactive displays and artifacts. 

The Tompkins County Public Library

Visit the Tompkins County Public Library for free community events during your visit. Expect events like weekly readings, lectures, and art presentations.
